not just an ordinary game.

January 1st, 2008
suddenly, i was in a purely white place. i don’t know where in the world i was. everything’s completely white except me and a thousand feet solid structure right in front of me. i was holding my journal and my favorite pen wearing my favorite shorts and top with a beautiful brown body bag which i have never seen before. i was in a good mood. the structure is made of yellow-colored bricks saying… 2008. a 2008 big solid structure. i was awfully struck how weird it was and then after a few moments, i observed that there’s a colorful sparkling hole on the second zero. i smiled. this is fun, i thought. jesus was standing right beside me and god was up there, watching me. jesus smiled and gave me a wooden stool so that i could climb into the big solid zero and enter into the magical hole. i climbed up into the stool and it suddenly elevated, like magic. that’s how i entered into the magical and mysterious year ahead. that how i started my game, my maze, my life.

this isn’t one of my dreams, dear. it’s just my pure stupid imagination. but i know it’s a kick-ass.

i don’t know how good or great my year will be but i know it won’t be bad. yes, bad things may happen but they won’t make a big change in my game. i know it will be friggin’ good.

this is a must-read part of this post.

solitaire mystery.

i have been reading this book of jostein gaarder for so many times. i love gaarder’s works. i would trade anything just to have one of his books that i haven’t read yet. jostein gaarder lives in norway. there are only few books that were translated in english and it’s so hard to find his books here in the philippines. if you have heard of sophie’s world, that is one of his best works.

solitaire mystery is about the journey of a father and a child who travels from norway to greece. they wanted to make a person who’s missing in their family to come back home, a mother.

a dwarf in switzerland gave the child, named Hans, a magnifying glass. the following day, a baker gave him buns with the sticky-bun book in it.

the sticky-bun book contains a story about the magical goldfishes, the rainbow fizz, the magical island and how Frode’s playing cards burst into life.

here’s one of the best part of the book:

there are 52 playing cards in each set, 1 year = 52.177457 weeks

7 x 52 = 364

52 weeks=365 days.

in every set of playing cards sold, they include two jokers. one joker adds one day to a whole year which makes it 365. the other joker will only add one day every leap year when we have 29 days in the month of February. the 29th day is the Joker day.

again. 2 jokers. the first joker adds one day to a common year which makes it 365. during leap year, the second joker will add one day which makes it 366 days. maybe that’s why we have two jokers in a pack of playing cards.

if you add all the symbols in a suite together, you get 91. ace is one, king is thirteen, queen is twelve– and so on. then yes, that is 91.

91 x 4= 364.

364 symbols in a pack of cards plus the joker is 365. we have 365 days in a year. during a leap year, we have 366 days in a year and that’s the time when the second joker will come into the picture.

i know it is freakin’ crazy. when i first read the book, i was really shocked.

this is an example of a way in which people are not able to interpret the signs that are right in front of their nose. - Han’s father.

in the book, this is just one of the most exciting parts of it. there’s also more… hahaha. i don’t want to spoil more, just go to the bookstore and good luck on finding it (if you just want to).
